EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 12: Amid government’s resolve to wage crusade against the rising corruption in Jammu and Kashmir, speculations are rife that India’s premier anti- graft agency CBI may be tasked to crack whip against corruption at large.
The process, as per the reports, to induct the staff of the anti- graft bodies under the domain of CBI has been initiated and the issue was recently discussed at a high level meeting convened by the government to devise strategy to rein in corruption at the higher level.
CBI can directly without any interference now investigate any graft case and it needs to permission from any government office to carry out the investigation. Earlier, this central anti- graft body had to acquire permission for taking action against any official or bureaucrat accused of being involved in any corrupt practice. There are already offices of CBI established in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir and same shall be empowered further with requite manpower and facilities
As per the reports, there are thousands of cases related to the corruption in Jammu and Kashmir gathering dust in anti-graft bodies, even those officials who have died years ago have the cases pending in the anti- graft bodies of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the government in the erstwhile state hadn’t fixed a time frame for the investigation of the corruption cases due to which those involved in such shabby practices used to escape unhurt.
As per the top official sources, the time frame set for the investigation of the corruption cases has been set as two years and no time beyond 24 months shall be given for the investigating officers to probe a graft case.
Furthermore, it is being informed that the government will incorporate scores of central laws related to the anti-graft agencies to Jammu and Kashmir to ensure that the involved aren't allowed to move scot-free. .
Earlier, there were reports coming to fore that the government in the past didnt take a single measure related to the project which was even go ahead even in the year 2017 by the then Governor.
Earlier, reports were coming to fore that several heads of different departments were acting as major roadblocks in the process and are foiling any measures of the government to tackle with the corruption menace. However, it is being informed that at present the situation is going to be different in its entirety and there will be series of revolutionary measures taken to tackle the corrupt practices so far looming large in Jammu and Kashmir.
