Youth Congress will fight for rights of Farmers: Nimrandeep Singh

Jammu, June 20: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress General Secretary Nimrandeep Singh Bhullar today interacted with a delegation of farmers from border area of Suchetgarh and R.S Pura.
While interacting, farmers discussed their long pending issues with him and said that the local authorities previously told them that the leftover cases regarding damage crops compensation will be cleared soon, but as of now nobody is ready to listen their grievances.
Farmers also said that they are still waiting for their damage crops compensation, but due to the harassment of local authorities, they lost all their hopes. Farmers also said that their compensation regarding the agriculture land which comes under fencing is also pending from couple of years.
Listening to their grievances of farmers, Bhullar Criticized the Jammu & Kashmir UT administration for ignoring various farmers related issues for the last so many months. The Congress leader said that Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bhima Yojana (PMFBY) implemented by the Central Government is merely on papers, which needs immediate redressal in order to give benefits to farmers who suffered losses to their crops.
Nimran said that farmers are being ignored by the authorities during this covid-19 Lockdown and are deducting the loan amount installments arbitrarily without any intimation to them. Bhullar assured farmers that their grievances will be taken up with the higher authorities.
Singh also said that farmers are the backbone of our country and he feels proud that he himself belongs to the agriculture class family. Singh demanded a special package for farmers as they have lost multiple crops during the last two seasons. Singh also requested government to help the farmers by allowing laborers who are waiting on Pathankot- Jammu border during this Covid-19 period, as both farmers and laborers are dependent on each other for their livelihood. Prominent present on the occasion were Hardeep Singh, Deewan chand, Ashok kumar, Jaggu ram, Capt. Pritam singh , Babu Ram Choudhary, Parkash sandhu , mohan lal , Jeevan lal bhagat , Sarabjeet Singh , Pawan kumar and Rishi Choudhary.
