Donors asked to deposit money in personal A/C of political activist raises eyebrows
Misappropriation of Corona-Relief fund ?

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 20: The appeals by senior members of Youth wing of a political party, to deposit Corona-Relief Fund into the personal account of a member rather than the dedicated account of the Youth Wing, has raised eyebrows among the workers, who have alleged something fishy in the entire incident.
According to the documents in the possession of Early Times, the Youth wing of a political party had initiated a programme with an aim to help the people, affected by Corona epidemic and had decided to collect contribution for Corona Relief Fund.
The Youth Wing of the Party had given the Account number of the A/c holder, which was the Youth Wing rather than any individual, as well as the address and IFSC code of the Bank’s New Delhi Branch.
But in Jammu and Kashmir, instead of depositing the funds to the Account of the Organization, a senior office bearer of the Youth Wing asked the Youth Wing members to participate in the Fund Raising campaign by depositing the money in the personal bank account of a member, whose name as well as account number and Branch of Surankote was mentioned.
Moreover, the individual whose account was shared on the social networking sites, had also informed through a message to the group members requesting the group members to donate the funds in his personal account as per the guidelines of Youth Wing Incharge and the State president.
As per bank details in possession of Early Times, the initial amount in the account was shown as merely Rs 4,000 but an amount of Rs 1,00,000 was deposited but were transferred through mTFR/9 from the account immediately. Similarly, Rs 1,60,000 were deposited which were again transferred through mTFR/9 and later Rs 2,00,000 were deposited, which were again transferred.
It is still unclear as why the personal account of an individual was shared by the Youth Wing rather than asking the members to deposit in the New Delhi Branch as same could be done. “It raises apprehensions about the intention of some of the youth members”, a local individual said, adding that the Youth members should also clarify as why the members were not asked to directly deposit the money into the bank account shared by the Organization.
