| Prof Gupta ridicules NC for making demand of Article 370 restoration | | | JAMMU, June 20: Former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has ridiculed the design of the National Conference for restoration of Article 370. In a statement Prof. Gupta observed that timing of raising the demand is quite significant, as hostile neighbor in the west and east are indulging in pinpricks. He said that Article 370 was incorporated in the constitution despite opposition by Nationalist including the Law Minister Dr. B.R Ambedkar. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s friend Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru pacified the agitated nationalist by pointing out that Article 370 is being adopted just as a temporary provision which would wither away with the passage of the time. Despite this assurance the Article 370 existed in the statue book for seventy long years despite big agitation by All J&K Praja Parishad led by Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and supreme sacrifice of towering opposition leader Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji and that of sixteen young activists of the Praja Parishad. “In Kashmir the National Conference and its allies wanted to have a semi independent state for having a fiefdom of particular family which ruin the roots for many years and proved to be a stumbling block in the progress and prosperity of the state and its people,” said Prof. Gupta He said that Narendra Modi led dispensation has taken a bold step and the Parliament with a thumping majority has scrapped this obnoxious provision which was responsible for so many ills in Jammu and Kashmir including the cleansing of minorities from the Valley.
