EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 21: The inmates of a quarantine center in Kathua staged a strong protest against the Kathua district administration after a person was found dead in the quarantine centre, criticizing the administration for providing inadequate facilities in the centre.
The quarantined persons today came out of their center and raised slogans against the administration and alleged that no proper facilities are being provided to them due to which they are compelled to live in inhuman conditions. They accused the concerned administration of not giving due care to the inmates. “The mysterious death of a person today in the quarantine centre has instilled fear among us. No regular visit is paid by the doctor in the quarantine center to inquire about our health. The officials deployed in the center pay no heed to the problems being faced by us,” they alleged. They further alleged that the mysterious death of a quarantined person in the center has exposed the poor management of the administration.
“Guidelines are being flouted on the part of the administration, which can be gauged from the fact that COVID0-19 positive persons being kept with other persons, who have been reported negative in the same barrack, which amounted to spread infection among other but the administration has paid deaf ears towards this serious issue,” the imamates alleged.
Raising a serious finger on the rude attitude of the administration, the inmates alleged that despite being negative in the COVID-19 tests reports repeatedly, they are not being allowed to go to their homes. “While taking to us for the COVID-19 tests sample, 40 persons are lodged in 54 seats without following social distancing. Poor quality food is provided to us in the center,” they alleged.
While narrating his ordeal, one of the inmates informed media persons that earlier he was reported COVID-19 positive, when he was in Delhi but after remaining in quarantine center, he was found negative, then he returned to Jammu where he was asked to remain in quarantine centre until another test report comes. “It is very shocking that despite the negative report, I am not being allowed to leave for my home. At this time, around three tests have been done, which came negative yet the administration continues to lodge us in the quarantine centre. On being asked the reason for putting us in centre, no satisfactory reply is given to us. The insanitation in the barracks, poor food has made our life hell,” he alleged further adding that he appeals to the administration to allow him for home quarantine.
