Schedule of pilgrimage likely to be announced very soon as LG reviewed preparations for the Yatra
Shri Amarnath Yatra: Pooja at holy cave to start from July 5

Jammu, June 23: Although schedule for this year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra has yet not announced, Lieutenant Governor (LC), Girish Chander Murmu has directed that that all the rituals with morning and evening Pooja/ Arti shall take place at the Holy Cave with effect from 5th July (Vyas Poornima) to 3rd August (Raksha Bandhan).
He exhorted upon all the officers to put in their best efforts to make the arrangements ready for the Yatra and appreciated the work already done.
The LG today reviewed the preparedness for this year’s Yatra and insisted to make sure all basic preparations including Health, infrastructure, ration/LPG supply, power, drinking water, security arrangements, telecommunication, disaster management etc. During the meeting, the LG was briefed by Bipul Pathak, CEO, SASB that the camp at holy cave is already established and the snow clearance work is completed.
The base camp Baltal and the Neelgrath helipad are likely to be ready within next week. CEO further informed that the SASB is making arrangements for the live telecast of the morning and evening Aarti with Doordarshan. Pertinent to mention here that the ‘Pratham Pooja” for the Yatra was performed on June 5 on the occasion of Jayesth Purnima to mark the beginning of the pilgrimage.
As per set ritual, ‘Pratham Pooja’ of the Yatra is always performed on the occasion of Jayesth Purnima to mark the beginning of the pilgrimage.
As per earlier schedule announced by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board Yatra will begin on June 23 2020 till 03 Aug 2020 but due to Coronavirus there is uncertainty over this year’s Yatra.
