SRINAGAR, June 23: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir has reached 87 as two more persons died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, 148 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today.
Reports said that two COVID-19 patients died at Natipora-Srinagar and Kadar-Kulgam in the past 24 hours. In the meantime, Pulwama reported 45 fresh cases followed by Srinagar 28 cases, Kulgam and Baramulla 16 cases each, Kupwara seven cases, Anantnag six cases, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Ramban and Kathua five cases each, Reasi three cases, Udhampur, Samba and Doda two cases each and Jammu one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 148 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 20 from Jammu division and 128 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 6,236. Also, two COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 111 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 51 from Jammu Division and 60 from Kashmir Division. Out of 6,236 positive cases, 2,507 are active positive, 3,642 have recovered and 87 have died; 10 in Jammu division and 77 in Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 3, 19,664 test results available, 3, 13,428 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 2, 61,394 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 39,760 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 29 in hospital quarantine, 2,507 in hospital isolation and 47,088 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 71,923 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 723 positive cases, 477 active positive, 226 recovered, 20 deaths; Kulgam has 709 positive cases, 216 active positive, 482 recovered, 11 deaths; Shopian has 636 positive cases, 203 active positive, 423 recovered, 10 deaths; Baramulla has 633 positive cases, 338 active positive, 271 recovered, 14 deaths; Anantnag district has 614 positive cases, 165 active positive, 443 recovered, six deaths.
“Kupwara has 460 positive cases, 124 active positive, 331 recovered, five deaths; Pulwama has 368 positive cases, 207 active positive, 157 recovered, four deaths; Budgam has 346 positive cases, 192 active positive, 148 recovered, six deaths; Bandipora has 278 positive cases, 48 active positive, 229 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 73 positive cases, 14 active positive, 59 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 311 positive cases, 71 active positive, 233 recovered, seven deaths; Udhampur has 214 positive cases, 91 active positive, 122 recovered, one death; Ramban has 213 positive cases, 79 active positive, 134 recoveries; Kathua has 201 positive cases, 86 active positive, 115 recovered; Samba has 130 positive cases, 71 active positive, 59 recovered;
“Poonch has 114 positive cases, 29 active positive, 85 recovered; Rajouri has 83 positive cases, 47 active positive, 35 recovered, one death; Doda has 70 positive cases, 18 active positive, 51 recovered, one death; Reasi has 35 positive cases, 11 active positive, 24 recovered and Kishtwar has 25 positive cases, 10 active positive, 15 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 6,236 positive cases, 2088 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
