Early Times Report

Anantnag, June 23: Business activities resumed partially in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday after the district administration allowed opening of shops in shops after 91 days of lockdown enforced to contain coronavirus (COVID-19).
The opening of shops presented a semblance of normalcy in the entire district as a good number of people thronged to markets in Lal Chowk, Mehandi Kadal, Bus Stand, Lazibal and other areas to make necessary purchases.
The Anantnag district administration has come up with a calendar for shopkeepers to open phase-wise and sector-wise during ‘Unlock I’.
Those shops selling essential items including eatables like Milk and Milk products, Local Bakers, Mutton Shops, Poultry, Fruit and vegetables will remain throughout the week in the district, reads the order issued by District Magistrate Anantnag.
The other shops have been broadly categorized into two and they will remain open for only three days in a week from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
However the District Magistrate Anantnag has banned the movement of traffic in the Red Zone area of the district and ordered the complete enforcement of lockdown in virus affected areas.
Besides directing traders and shopkeepers to download Aarogya-Setu App on their mobile phones, the District Magistrate Anantnag K K Sidha (KAS) has asked them to adhere to the laid down COVID19 protocol and ensure social distancing at shops.
All Traders and Manufactures Association Anantnag Chairman Abdul Rashid Sheikh has thanked the district administration and assured that his association will help in creating awareness among the traders and shopkeepers of the district.
The Association has published posters and urged traders and shopkeepers of the district to maintain social distance and keep hand sanitizers available for customers.
The Government Medical College Anantnag has also resumed its normal work by opening OPD services.
“We have resumed work at Government Medical College Anantnag.
Today patients came and they were attended by the doctors at OPD. We are also going to start conducting all major and minor surgeries,” Principal Medical College Anantnag told Early Times over Phone.
He however requested people to abide by the COVID19 protocol and ensure social distancing in the hospital. “We urge the public to cooperate with us especially with doctors.
We have kept hand sanitizers available and all those visiting hospitals must use it for their safety and for the safety of doctors. I also request them to use face masks,” he added.
