GDC Kishtwar organised webinar on Environmental Dimensions of COVID 19 pandemic

Kishtwar June 23: Keeping in pace with the technological advancements in education, Department of Botany at Govt. Degree
College Kishtwar organized one day National Webinar on “Environmental Dimensions of Covid-19
Pandemic: challenges and opportunities”.
The program was organized under the
patronage of Prof. Anirudh Sharma, Principal Govt. Degree Kishtwar and Convenorship of Dr Barket Ali,
Head department of Botany. The proceedings were conducted by Dr Zahoor Ahmed Wani, Organizing
secretary of the webinar. In his inaugural address Prof. Anirudh Sharma talked about the relevance of the
webinar under present circumstances and stressed for more such initiatives for masses awareness about this
pandemic. In this webinar three guest speakers delivered their valuable presentations. The first talk was given
by Mr. Nadeem Qadri (Environmental Lawyer) on the topic Role of Youth in Environmental Conservation with
Judicial perspective, wherein some important environmental clues were highlighted and discussed various tools for
environmental conservation in judicial perspective. The 2nd lecture was delivered by Dr. Manzoor A. Shah
(Associate Professor, UoK) on the topic Pandemics in an ecological paradigm: learn from basics to lead from the
front, wherein he discussed the importance of big science projects in research and linking local ecological issues
with the global ones. The third talk was given by Dr. CM Seth IFS (Retd) on Environment at Risk: Post Covid-19
Pandemic challenges and Opportunities, wherein he elaborated on impact of Covid-19 pandemic and the
opportunities lying ahead. Finally, valedictory remarks and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Barket Ali.
The program was attended by participants from various universities across the country, who actively participated in
the question answer session at the end of the webinar.
This programme was conducted by Department of Botany, Govt. Degree Kishtwar defying all the circumstantial
constraints, which is a great achievement for the Department and the College, keeping in view the difficult
geographical location.
