PWD Rajouri turns blind eye towards dilapidated condition of ITI Road
Huge potholes cause accidents, inconvenience to general public

EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, July 1: The ITI Road Rajouri being one of the busiest roads of the town, where most of the government offices are located but unfortunately it is in a dilapidated condition, which speaks volume of official apathy of the concerned Public Works Department, who has virtually turned blind eye toward this grave issue.
The locals alleged that the huge potholes on the road have become the cause of the accidents due to continuous vehicular movement on it, which are reported most of the days. There are many vital government offices as well as ITI institutions situated alongside the road.
“Thousands of the people daily pass from this road to visit offices including Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel, BDO Rajouri office, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Excise Department and ITI institution etc, who face huge difficulty while passing through this road,” they alleged.
They further alleged that whenever it rains the water gets collected in the huge potholes which lead to serious accidents and even there is no drainage system along the road resulting continuous water logging can be seen any time.
Locals alleged that substandard material is used while carrying out blacktopping, which is visible from the condition of the road. Whenever the road is blacktopped, it starts breaking within a month, which shows that cheap material is used and the department is least bothered to take action against the concerned contractor, which again points out towards some nexus between the contractors and department.
Despite repeated calls, the XEn PWD Rajouri Zubaid Choudhary could not be contacted for his comments while when AEE Mohd Kasim was contacted he said that the department is going to tender the work of blacktopping of road this month.
