DDC Kishtwar reviews preparedness for rainy season

KISHTWAR, July 20: District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today reviewed the preparedness of the departments for rainy season here at a meeting of the heads of the line departments.
The DDC took stock of arrangements for dealing with floods, Landslides, Emergency response and stock of essentials here.
Referring to the forecast of heavy rainfall in next few days, the DDC asked all the Departments dealing with emergency response Viz. Health, R&B, PMGSY, Police, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, PHE, PDD etc to maintain high vigil to avoid any untoward incident.
He also asked the District Officers to educate the people about the precautions and be in ready mode for evacuation of people from flood and Landslide -prone areas, particularly those living along Chenab River and seasonal Nallahs, in case of any eventuality.
All the SDMs, Tehsildars, BDOs and other district officers were impressed upon to identify the danger zones in their respective jurisdiction.
He asked them to inform the public through the concerned field functionaries with regard to the precautions to be taken during the emergency.
He also directed the Tehsildars to set up a emergency control room in each tehsil and notify the phone numbers of the helpline for the information of general public.
He also underlined that an emergency Nodal officer would be appointed at the district as well as sub-division level, who shall coordinate all the emergency responses.
He further asked the police, Animal Husbandry, Food and Civil Supplies, PDD, Forest ,Irrigation and flood control ,R&B, PMGSY and GREF to set-up own control rooms and share the contact numbers with the people and District Nodal Officer for facilitation during emergency.
He also asked the District Officers to finalize and submit their respective Disaster Management Plan within a week of time. The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Hanif Malik; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar, Joint Director Planning, Mohd Iqbal; Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Chhatroo, Inderjeet Parihar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Marwah, Dr. Mohsin Raza; SDPO Atholi, Pardeep Sen and other district officers and representatives of concerned Departments.
