Early Times Report

Jammu, July 20: Amid Lieutenant Governor zero tolerance against corruption, further strengthening Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) two more new Police stations have been created by the government.
According to Government notification dated 20th July 2020 the number of ACB’s Police stations has been raised to eight.
Prior to creation of these PS, there were only six PSs in J & K, three each in both provinces. Udhampur and Reasi districts were earlier scattered as Reasi district was part of ACB Police Jammu, Samba and Kathua and Udhampur was part of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban Police station, for both Reasi-Udhampur districts a separate PS has been created, this PS would be stationed in Udhampur district. Prior to creation of new PS for Udhampur, each ACB PS Jammu and Doda were catering four districts in other words both the PSs were overburdened. However, the ACB PS Rajouri has only two districts comparatively less burdened like Doda and Jammu.
In Kashmir division, no fresh PS has been created, and three ACB PSs keeping an eye on the corruption in districts of valley.
In this notification a separate Central Police Station for ACB has also been created with a jurisdiction of the entire J&K. “Central PS has been created with wide jurisdiction to keep surveillance on the functioning of seven Police Stations of the Union Territory”, highly placed sources said, adding that the new PSs have created following repeated complaints of corruptions at various levels being received by the Raj Bhawan to further strengthen the anti graft agency.
It is pertinent to mention here that like national anti graft, the J&K Crime Branch recently got a separate wing for economic offences.
