| PDD Employees call on Altaf Bukhari, demand shelving of privatization move | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, July 22: Power Employees coordination committee today called upon the Ex Minister of Finance and President JKAP Altaf Bukhari here in Jammu in presence of senior trade union leader Ajaz Kazmi, Vikram Malhota ,Vijay Bakaya, ExMLC, Manjeet Singh Ex.MLA. The delegation apprised Altaf Bukhari sb about the proposed privatisation of the Power Sector in Jammu Kashmir Union Territory through transferring the assets created with public exchequer inclusive of natural resources to private houses. PECC informed the approach of Government wherein the Power Distribution sector is being contemplated to be privatised and service rights of the 27000 employees are being pushed into uncertainty amidst COVID-19.Government has forced the employees to come out in protest because of their push to privatisation moves amidst the Pandemic.
The Power Development department has been corporatized post Aug 5, and within less than six months, the privatisation is being talked about. The unilateral approach of the UOI towards the Power sector of Jammu and Kashmir Lacks consistency and appears to keep the employees and public in atmosphere of uncertainty. T
he corporations have been operationalized from 23/10/2019 on existing staffing strength without taking any measures to implement the recommendations of the committee constituted vide Govt. Order No-161-PDD of 2019 dtaed-20/09/2019 for carving out corporations, thereby rendering the corporations ineffective.
The Regularisation of Engineers is still a distant dream and promotion of the incumbent engineers at various levels is also at stand still since OCT 2019.
