SUNDERBANI, July 30: In an interesting development Junior Engineer, Rural Development Department (RDD) Sunderbani along with some other officials visited site of damaged well at Barnara village in Nallah Panchayat and dismantled the well in order to cover up their follies.
Early Times has learnt from sources that ACD Rajouri Sushil Khajuria ordered for a probe after it came to the fore that the well developed huge cracks only after five days of being commissioned. The ACD Rajouri ordered the Block Development Officer (BDO) Sunderbani to visit the area and submit the report within three days.
The order was issued through official correspondence number ACD/R/2020-21-939-42 dated 29-7-2020. The BDO was asked to take AEE and JE to visit the spot and see the extent of damage and submit the report thereafter.
The team in the first instance along with the former GRS visited the village in order the check the extent of damage.
The ACD had vehemently told the RDD staff that he has been asked by his seniors to carry out a full-fledged probe in the matter and not to spare any Panchayat representative or government official. After this an interesting development took place that surprised many more so the locals. “The JE concerned along with the Village Level Worker visited the spot yet again and dismantled the well in order to repair it. Twelve labourers were pressed into service and the work carried up to 10 in the night on Wednesday. The dismantling and repairing work could not be done,” said the sources. Sources said that the team constituted by the ACD has acknowledged the fact that sub-standard material was used in the construction of well. When contacted BDO Sunderbani Raman Sharma also said that sub-standard material has been used adding that stern action would be taken against the guilty.
