So-called “Gupkar Declaration” represents aspirations of two and half districts of Valley only
7/31/2020 12:01:14 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 30: As August 5 is approaching, two Kashmir centric dynastic parties-National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have started reiterating their commitment to so-called ‘Gupkar Declaration’ to restore abrogated Article 370 and illegal Article 35-A.
But the biggest question is how many elected leaders from Jammu were present when this so-called Gupkar Declaration was formed during a high-tea party at the official residence of former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah on August 4, 2019.
Not even a single leader from Jammu was present in the meeting where this Gupkar Declaration was made. What to say of elected leaders from Jammu, even elected Congress leaders from Kashmir Valley were also absent in the meeting in which a ‘group of dynasts’ have declared to protect Article 370.
Not even a single elected leader from Jammu was present in the meeting. Similarly there was no elected representative from Ladakh in the same ‘get-together’. Those who were present in the get-together represent aspirations of only two and half districts of Kashmir Valley, especially Srinagar and Anantnag districts.
Without any representation from Jammu and Ladakh, how leaders who were present in the ‘get-together’ were claiming that their opinion in viewpoint of the entire population of the erstwhile state of J&K. People of Ladakh have already given their consent to the decision of the Union Government to grant UT to the cold desert. Almost the same is the situation in Jammu region where people have no objection to the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A.
By reiterating their commitment to the Gupkar Declaration, NC and PDP leaders from Kashmir Valley again try to establish their hegemony in Jammu and Ladakh regions also. After treating these two regions as their colonies for years together, these dynasts appear to be desperate to again take control of both the regions.
