UFD Jammu sets up 3 plant distribution counters for public
Conducts plantation drive at Gladni

JAMMU, July 30: Urban Forestry Division Jammu has setup three plant distribution counters for the general public to promote plantation in Jammu city and peripheries, this monsoon.
“Anyone can get the plants at these counters set up at Forest Information Centre Vikram Chowk, Forest Check Post Kaluchak and Forest Check post Nagrota,” said DFO, Urban Forestry Jammu, Sunil Singh during a plantation drive here at Gladni Narwal conducted as part of Van Mahotsav Week.
Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, K. Ramesh Kumar started the drive by planting saplings of ornamental plants.
Managing Director J&K State Forest Corporation, Vasu Yadav, also planted sapling during the drive.
Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu, Simuel Chankjgia; DFO Jammu, Alok Mourya; DFO Urban Jammu, Sunil Singh and Range Officer Sunjwan, Rakesh Verma also planted saplings during the plantation drive. The Chief Conservator of Forests said that the drive is a part of Week Long Van Mahotsav which commenced on 27th of July and will last up to 31st July.
During the Van Mahostav Week series of plantation drives are to be conducted at different locations of Jammu Province.
Around 1000 ornamental plants were planted during the drive to add an aesthetic look to the road.
The CCF Jammu informed that efforts are being made to beautify Jammu city by planting and maintaining ornamental as well as shade bearing plants.
The DFO Urban Jammu informed that Urban Forestry Division has covered the whole of Jammu city during these drives. He also requested all to come forward to plant more number of plants.
Rakesh Verma informed that a number of sites have been taken up for plantation under Greening Jammu to bring maximum areas under the Green Cover.
Block Officer, Kuldeep Raj Verma, thanked the senior officers, who despite their busy schedule encouraged the field staff by themselves planting saplings.
