GDC Ramgarh conducts plantation drive

Jammu, Aug 19: A tree plantation drive’ was conducted by Red Ribbon Club of GDC Ramgarh in Collaboration with J&K Forest Department on 18-08-2020 to create awareness and spread the message of saving our planet- ‘Protecting our environment is the need of the hour.’
The Purpose of ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ was to save the endangered environment and to beautify our life. Speaking on the Occasion, Prof.(Dr.) Meeru Abrol said that “Tree Plantation is not just something that should be done to create beautiful vignette; instead, it has become the need of the hour. Planting of trees is especially important to protect our environment against air pollution and global warming; in turn an important step in restoring the ecological balance on earth.”
The officials present on the occasion were Sh. Moninder Pal Gupta, Regional Director, Deptt. Of Social Forestry; Mrs. Hitashi Sharma, DFO Jammu, Deptt. Of Social Forestry; Sh. Ramesh Chander Sharma, Range Officer; Vijaypur; S. Amrik Singh, Block Officer, Vijaypur. They gave their equal participation in planting the saplings and said that every day should be treated as Van Mahotsav and Plantation Drive must be promoted in a big way to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy.
The whole event was Organised under the guidance of Prof.(Dr.)Meeru Abrol, Principal GDC Ramgarh. Nodal Officers of Red Ribbon Club Dr. Sandeep Kumar and Prof. Risha Kumari organized the event/campaign scrupulously.
All the Teaching and Non-teaching Staff members of the college participated in the event. During the event, 100 saplings were planted in the College Premises.
The other staff members Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Shamsher Lal and Mr. Rajinder Kumar of the college also planted the saplings on the occasion.
