Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Aug 19: A group of officers and officials of Department of Revenue in a tehsil of this district have facilitated the encroachment of state land by a powerful person despite the fact that same was freed from encroachment some years back.
Early Times has learnt from sources that some years back the powerful man occupied many Kanals of state land in the Taryath tehsil of Rajouri district and constructed a kuccha house on the state land falling under Khasra numbers 570 and 576. “At that time a complaint was made to Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri and also to the office of Financial Commissioner, Revenue. The Financial Commissioner, Revenue directed the Deputy Commissioner to act on the complaint and following this the kuccha house was dismantled and razed to ground,” said sources.
Sources said the whole state land was taken over the district administration and it was properly fenced. They said the district administration officials extended full cooperation to the demolition drive and in fact then Tehsildar Taryath was at the forefront of taking punitive action against the powerful man.
“However, the powerful man is back in action since he in league with some of the officials of Department of Revenue has managed to damage the fencing on the same state land. He has in fact constructed a concrete house this time around and the district administration has so far failed to take any action,” said sources.
The locals of the area have appealed Financial Commissioner Revenue and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to order a probe in the matter since the revenue officials have managed to strike off red marking in the revenue records and replaced the same with green colour.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Rajouri, Mohammad Ashraf told Early Times that he would go through the case and take the necessary action if deemed fit. “I do not know anything about this case. Since you have brought this into my notice I will go through it and proceed further,” he said.
