GDC Bishnah celebrates youth day

Jammu, Aug 19: The NSS unit of GDC Bishnah celebrated the International Youth Day-2020 by organizing a series of Inter-Collegiate online activities including Video Byte Competition on the topic “Role of Youth in Strengthening Democracy”, Poster Making on the topic “Youth as Protector of Environment” and Slogan Writing Competition on the topic “Youth in Social Action”.
The students from various colleges of the UT of J&K participated in all the activities with enthusiasm. In Poster Making Competition Bhavish Singh of School of Science, CLUJ, Tariq Jahangir of Govt MAM PG College Jammu, Sonika Kalyan of GGM Science College were adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In Video Byte Competition, Anmol Sharma of GDC Bishnah, Shikhar Sharma of Govt MAM College, Jammu and Sabyam Kerni of GDC Udhampur were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. In Slogan Writing Competition, Anmol Sharma of GDC Bishnah, Diksha Thakur of GDC Majalta and Vishal Singh bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The Jury Members for the Poster Making Competition included Dr Seema Sudan, Dr Suman Bala, Dr Seema, for Video Byte Competition, Prof Nirlape Kour, Dr Seema Jamwal, Dr Piyush Kant Sharma and for Slogan Writing Competition Prof Archana Bakshi, Prof Ashu Manhas and Prof Anuradha .
The First three winners shall be given the Certificates of Merit while the rest of the participants shall be given certificates of Participation. Dr Anuradha Pandoh, the Principal of the College appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students from across the colleges of UT of J&K and exhorted that it’s the energetic young minds that can bring in fresh ideas and commitment for strengthening democracy, protection of Environment and social activism to take the nation on the path of progress and prosperity. She also appreciated the efforts of Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, NSS Programme Officer and the Organizing committee in organizing series of programmes on the occasion of International Youth Day-2020.
