Reasi, Aug 21: A delegation of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra comprising of its President Rakesh Wazir, Chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, Former President Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sr. Vice President Virender Kesar, Vice President Ajay Kotwal met Lt. Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha besides giving him a detail memorandum and apprised him the issues pertaining to Tourism, Hotel, Trade, Commerce & Industry.
Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that spread of COVID has broken the back bone of Tourism sector and till the time concrete steps are not taken with regard to its survival and sustenance its revival is very difficult and emphasized that Yatra should be opened with pre-covid tests without restriction of number so that business may start a little because Katra has complete infrastructure at Katra & Bhawan keeping in view the Covid guidelines even and likewise the Pithus and Helpers with proper Covid testing for the convenience of the pilgrims should be allowed. He further said that rotation of 10 million (one crore) coming pilgrims to other places of UT and increasing the stay of Yatries is the only way by which economy can be improved and in past we have remained successful in diverting 20 lac pilgrims to Shiv Khori and lot many Vaishnodevi pilgrims are visiting Nau Devian,Dhansar,Siar Baba near Katra, Patnitop,Bhaderwah, and various Tourist places of Kashmir etc. but this figure is required to be improved by increasing infrastructure and by doing vast publicity of those places and new places of Tourist and pilgrim interest around Katra are required to be added.
