JAMMU, Aug 22: The election to the post of Vice President Municipal Committee (MC) Kishtwar will be held on August 25. According to the notification issued by the District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar vide his letter No DDEO/K/340-44, dated:- 21/08/2020, the date for the election of Vice President’s post has been fixed for August 25 at 2:00 pm at MC Office Kishtwar.
It is pertinent to mention here that the post of the Vice President MC, Kishtwar fell vacant due to the resignation of the then incumbent Firdous Ahmed Mingnoo.
Earlier, the DEO Kishtwar had announced July 24 as election date for the post, however, Kulsum Begum, Councilor Ward No 7 was put into home quarantine by the Health authorities with effect from July 21 to August 3 due to which the fixed election schedule was postponed/ deferred.
Thereafter, various councilors of MC Kishtwar requested the DEO, Kishtwar to fix a fresh date of meeting for the election to the post of Vice President.
