Mahila Morcha demands sanitization of Jagti quarters,water supply restoration

JAMMU, Aug 30: Keeping in view the increasing cases of coronavirus pandemic in Kashmiri Migrants township at Jagti, BJP Kashmir Displaced District women wing has demanded immediate fogging and sanitization of quarters besides restoration of water supply which was affected for the last ten days here today.
KDD Mahila Morcha district president Dolly Raina while taking stock of the problems being faced by the inhabitants of the camp urged the Jammu district administration that sanitation of quarters and fogging in the camp be conducted on priority as there has been increase in the COVID- 19 cases in the camp for the last quite some time. While interacting with several camp inmates Dolly Raina was apprised of water scarcity problem. She was told that the Jagti colony was receiving interrupted water supply despite being lakhs of rupees spent on its maintenance. She said water supply to the camp was irregular and contaminated where as inmates had to face scarcity of water especially in rainy season due to damages caused to supplying pipes from Tawi as a result of which the water supply remain affected for days together, Dolly maintained.She further added that water supply to the camp should be restored with an immediate effect which was snapped for the last ten days she added. Dolly also expressed concern over the erratic power supply to the camp. She said without electricity the student community in particular face hardships. In these pandemic times they have to rely on online classes besides people have to save themselves from the scorching heat also while the electricity was playing hide and seek compounding their problems, she added.
She urged the district administration to fullfill the people's demands at an earliest while assuring the inmates during her visit.Those who accompanied her during the tour include Meenakshi Wali, Sujata, Anju Raina Jai Kishori Kaw and others.
