SRINAGAR, Aug 30: Jammu & Kashmir reported highest number of Corona Virus cases in a given day as 786 fresh cases of virus came to the fore today. With today’s cases the total number of positive cases in the union territory is 37,163. The death toll reached 694 as nine more persons died in past 24 hours.
Jammu district reported 258 cases of COVID-19 followed by 161 cases in Srinagar, Budgam 52 cases, Ganderbal 44 cases, Anantnag 38 cases, Bandipora 37 cases, Kupwara 30 cases, Kishtwar 27 cases, Baramulla 26 cases, Pulwama 25 cases, Kathua and Reasi 18 cases each, Kulgam 11 cases, Udhampur nine cases, Shopian eight cases, Samba seven cases, Rajouri and Poonch six cases each and Doda five cases.
Jammu district reported three Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar and Budgam districts with two deaths each and a death each in Baramulla and Ganderbal districts. So far 631 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 63. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 219 deaths.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 786 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 354 from Jammu division and 432 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 37,163. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 490 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 108 from Jammu Division and 382 from Kashmir Division. Out of 37,163 positive cases, 7,959 are active positive, 28,510 have recovered and 694 have died; 63 in Jammu division and 631 in Kashmir division. Out of 9, 56,733 test results available, 9, 19,570 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 58,984 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,176 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,959 in isolation and 45,033 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 60,122 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 9,186 positive cases, 1,589 active positive, 7,378 recovered, 219 deaths; Baramulla has 2,810 positive cases, 506 active positive, 2,204 recovered, 100 deaths; Pulwama has 2,590 positive cases, 465 active positive, 2,077 recovered, 48 deaths; Budgam has 2,479 positive cases, 690 active positive, 1,729 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,314 positive cases, 510 active positive, 1,755 recovered, 49 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,142 positive cases, 734 active positive, 1,383 recovered, 25 deaths; Kupwara has 2,075 positive cases, 632 active positive, 1,397 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 1,918 positive cases, 210 active positive, 1673 recovered, 35 deaths; Shopian has 1,698 positive cases, 120 active positive, 1,550 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,415 positive cases, 443 active positive, 951 recovered, 21 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 3,149 positive cases, 1,128 active positive, 1,979 recovered, 42 deaths; Rajouri has 888 positive cases, 117 active positive, 766 recovered, five deaths; Kathua has 871 positive cases, 191 active positive, 677 recovered, three deaths; Udhampur has 810 positive cases, 138 active positive, 670 recovered, two deaths; Samba has 706 positive cases, 180 active positive, 524 recovered, two deaths.
“Ramban has 653 positive cases, 19 active positive, 633 recovered, one death; Doda has 415 positive cases, 76 active positive, 336 recovered, three deaths; Poonch has 413 positive cases, 85 active positive, 324 recovered, four deaths; Reasi has 389 positive cases, 70 active positive, 319 recovered and Kishtwar has 242 positive cases, 56 active positive, 185 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 37,163 positive cases 6,494 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
