One year on, thousands PSC lecturers await Govt nod
9/4/2020 12:23:39 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 3: Despite clear directions as per new Education Policy announced by the Center government wherein Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) course has been made compulsory for all those teachers, who have not done it but the concerned administration seems indecisive to allow thousands of PSC lecturers for allowing them to undergo this requisite course.
Sources told Early Times that the issue has been lingering on for years only in case of PSC Plus-Two Lecturers, although teachers, ReTs were given permission to undergo B Ed courses through IGNOU.
“Around 20000-25000 teachers were allowed to go BEd courses and they completed it in the recent past but the PSC lecturers of the department are still awaiting government permission,” they said.
They further informed that Former Commissioner Secretary School Education Sarita Chouhan had assured that the Plus 2 lecturers, who are without B.Ed will be sent for the course in Government Colleges but till date nothing has been done by the incumbent administration.
“As per Central Education Rules, it is the responsibility of the School Education Department to take all measures, initiatives to provide them with a B.Ed course for better understanding of teaching skills and for their promotions purposes also.
Although the previous government had made it mandatory for all the teachers to attain BEd before March 2020,” they said further adding that there are over hundred Principals, who are without BEd. Not only this under New Education policy it is necessary also for a Post Graduate teacher to go for one year B Ed training.
Even the issue was raised also before the incumbent administration to allow lecturers for undergo B.Ed in Government colleges instead of through distance courses from IGNOU, which according to them is not beneficial to learn the teaching skills, they added.
Sources further said that in this connection concerned administration had held a meeting to discuss designing of integrated BEd course mode for teachers Grade III last month but nothing substantiate outcome was found.
