Media persons protest against Forest Deptt Sunderbani

SUNDERBANI, Sept 5: Expressing strong resentment against the Forest Department Nowshera for allegedly harassing journalists who expose encroachment of forest land, media persons of Sunderbani representing different newspapers and electronic news channels held a strong protest here today.
The protest was held against forest officers including Conservator Rajouri Mohan Dass, DFO Nowshera Suresh Manda and Forest Incharge Range Officer Sunderbani Deepak Gupta under the banner of Press Council of Sunderbani.
The protesting media persons alleged that Forest Department always harass complainers who were raising the voice against forest land mafia and few months ago one registered fake FIR against local journalist of Qila Darhal. There are thousands of kanal land encroached in compartment number 86 in Qila Darhal, Rajpur Kameela, Thalka and similarly thousands of kanal land in compartment number 49D and 50D in Rugga Parat of tehsil Sunderbani and illegal saw mills also functioning in Sunderbani said media persons.
Council said but many media persons published news in different newspaper but on 3rd September 2020 on the directions of conservator Rajouri and DFO Nowshera Range officer sent notice to journalist of print media Ajay Sharma of Early Times and lodged fake FIR against journalist of electronic media Harbaksh Singh Qila Darhal. So today all the media persons protested against forest department in front of forest range office Sunderbani. They said department want to stop the voice with pressurized to media persons for not publish news against us. They said forest land mafia is active in Nowshera Sunderbani in all Jammu and Kashmir state. At last they submitted a memorandum to ADM Sunderbani Vinod Kumar Benhal and chairman of BDC Sunderbani Arun Kumar Sharma and journalists warned to Forest department if department not withdraw fake FIR of Qila Darhal, Journalist and notice of Sunderbani, journalist in one week then we all the media persons of district Rajouri will block Jammu Poonch Highway.
They urged the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir order for enquiry from different agencies for the scams of forest department.
They also appealed to Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Jammu and Commissioner Secretary Forest to take action against the officers by transferring them
