Jammu district continues to witness spike in COVID-19 cases as 520 more get affected

SRINAGAR, Sept 5: Jammu district continues to witness a spike in Corona Virus cases as 520 more people from the district got affected by the virus today. In total 1251 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Jammu & Kashmir with 15 more deaths taking place today.
As on date the total number of positive cases in the union territory is 42,241 with the number of casualties being 770. Today Jammu district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by three deaths in Kathua district and Srinagar district two deaths. A death each was reported from Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Udhampur and Poonch districts.
Jammu district reported 520 fresh cases of COVID-19 cases followed by Srinagar district 181 cases, Udhampur district 72 cases, Budgam district 69 cases, Ganderbal district 63 cases, Kupwara district 54 cases, Baramulla district 51 cases, Pulwama district 40 cases, Anantnag district 35 cases, Kathua and Doda districts 27 cases each, Samba district 23 cases, Rajouri district 22 cases, Ramban district 19 cases, Kishtwar district 16 cases, Bandipora district 12 cases, Poonch district 11 cases, Shopian district four cases, Kulgam district three cases and Reasi district two cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,251 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 739 from Jammu division and 512 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 42,241. Also 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 10 from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 489 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 123 from Jammu Division and 366 from Kashmir Division. Out of 42,241 positive cases, 9,547 are active positive, 31,924 have recovered and 770 have died; 91 in Jammu division and 679 in Kashmir division. Out of 10, 51,826 test results available, 10, 09,585 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 76,330 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43,668 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 9,547 in isolation and 48,834 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 73,511 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 9,985 positive cases, 1,400 active positive, 8,352 recovered, 233 deaths; Baramulla has 2,988 positive cases, 532 active positive, 2,352 recovered, 104 deaths; Pulwama has 2,807 positive cases, 473 active positive, 2,278 recovered, 56 deaths; Budgam has 2,797 positive cases, 697 active positive, 2,036 recovered, 64 deaths; Anantnag has 2,499 positive cases, 502 active positive, 1,945 recovered, 52 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,330 positive cases, 689 active positive, 1,615 recovered, 26 deaths; Kupwara has 2,289 positive cases, 639 active positive, 1,596 recovered, 54 deaths; Kulgam has 1,986 positive cases, 124 active positive, 1,825 recovered, 37 deaths; Shopian has 1,739 positive cases, 100 active positive, 1,611 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,671 positive cases, 416 active positive, 1230 recovered, 25 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 4,902 positive cases, 2,564 active positive, 2,279 recovered, 59 deaths; Kathua has 1,039 positive cases, 275 active positive, 756 recovered, eight deaths; Rajouri has 989 positive cases, 187 active positive, 797 recovered, five deaths; Udhampur has 981 positive cases, 240 active positive, 737 recovered, four deaths; Samba has 800 positive cases, 215 active positive, 582 recovered, three deaths.
“Ramban has 692 positive cases, 43 active positive, 648 recovered, one death; Doda has 493 positive cases, 118 active positive, 370 recovered, five deaths; Poonch has 480 positive cases, 106 active positive, 369 recovered, five deaths; Reasi has 439 positive cases, 101 active positive, 338 recovered and Kishtwar has 335 positive cases, 126 active positive, 208 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 42,241 positive cases in J&K, 6,937 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
