Arms, ammunition recovered in Dulanja Uri

BARAMULLA, Sept 10: Security forces on Thursday claimed to have recovered war-like stores from the Dulanja area of Uri along Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Commanding Officer 88 Rashtriya Rifles Vivek Venkat briefing a presser at Uri brigade unit said that “the security forces had been receiving regular inputs over a week now into delivery of consignment in areas along the LOC in North Jhelum sub sector, likely to be used for fuelling nefarious in the hinterland.
Accordingly, as per the Army officer, a slew of search operations were organized along areas astride Jhelum River including Kala Bhat, Chappar, Dhulanja, Cutting Area, Dhuianja Infantry Safe Line (ISL).
“On September 9, a credible input was received from Jammu Kashmir Police regarding presence of a cache of small arms in general area Dulanja”, the officer said.
“Consequently post deliberate planning, a specific search was launched in general area Dulanja Infantry Safe Line (ISL) at 1320 hours by a team which continued throughout the day”, the officer said adding, the searches culminated in the recovery of War-like stores in general area cutting on September 10 at 0525 hours.
The arms and ammunition recovered during the searches include two M16 Rifles (Pak Origin), two Pistols (Pak Origin), four Magazines (M16 Rifle), and four Magazines (Pistols), the officer maintained.
The press conference was also attended by concerned police officials including SDPO and SHO Uri.
It is also important to mention here that, a major tragedy was averted on Thursday when the security forces detected an improvised explosive device (IED) in Baramulla district.
Meanwhile, police today claimed to have arrested two JeM militants along with arms and ammunition in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
Police received a specific input that two JeM militants belonging to Sopore were likely to visit Kupwara and recruit youth in their ranks.
The police official said, acting upon the input, Police and Army’s 47 RR established nakas at different locations in the district and intercepted a car (Eon –JK05G-0872) near FCI Godown at Drugmullah, Kupwara.
“Two militants, Waseem Irshad Gabroo of Takiyabal Arampora, Sopore and Mehraraj-Ud-Din Wani of Badshah Masjid, Sopore were apprehended from the car,” the official said, adding, “Upon a thorough search of the vehicle an AK-47 along with one magazine , two grenades, 30 AK rounds and Rs 7 lakh cash were recovered from their possession.
The official said that a case FIR no 233 under section Indian Arms 7/25 Act, and 13, 18, 19, 39 UAPA sections has been registered at police station Kupwara.
“Further investigations have been set into motion.
