Ex-BJP legislators in quandary after Omar announces to vacate official bungalow 9/11/2020 1:03:09 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 10: Announcement of former chief minister and NC president Omar Abdullah to vacate his official bungalow has landed power hungry BJP leaders in a piquant situation because most of the ‘patriotic’ leaders of the party were not ready to vacate official accommodations. After Omar Abdullah’s announcement ball is now in the court of ex-BJP ministers and former legislators who are still occupying government accommodation despite the fact that both Legislative Assembly as well as Legislative Council have been abolished after bi-furcation of erstwhile J&K state into two Union Territories (UTs). Omar Abdullah’s decision to voluntarily vacate his official bungalow has put a big question mark over credentials and character of BJP leaders who claimed to join politics only to ‘serve the people selflessly’. Now these self-styled ‘selfless public representatives’ have to follow Omar Abdullah’s footsteps. Ex-BJP ministers have occupied palatial bungalows of the government and they are not ready to vacate these buildings. Recently the Estate Department had served notice to all former legislators to vacate official residences but former legislators of BJP who have been living in palatial government bungalows and enjoying luxuries, refused to respond to the notice. As per reports, the Estates Department has served eviction notices to all former legislators in Kashmir and asked them to vacate government accommodations. All former legislators have been asked to vacate official residences immediately. All those who are not in government have to vacate the official residences. Almost all former ministers and ex-legislators of BJP are still living in official bungalows.
