21 policemen among 35 reported COVID positive in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Sept 11: District Police Office Kishtwar was today closed for two days after 21 policemen working in the office complex of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar reported positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, as many as 35 fresh COVID positive cases were reported today in Kishtwar with 2 cases from village Behra Bhatta, declared as Red Zone, from where around 2 dozen cases have been reported so far while 12 positive cases, hailing from different parts of the district, were reported from District Hospital Kishtwar.
Speaking to Early Times, SSP Kishtwar Dr Harmeet Singh Mehta confirmed that the report of 21 policemen tested positive, adding that all are asymptomatic. He said that following the surfacing of 21 positive cases, SSP office complex has been closed for sanitizing.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara said that the situation is being monitored and added that about 2 dozen COVID positive cases have been successfully treated at Kishtwar and were sent back to home.
He urged the people to follow the SOPs, maintain social distancing, use masks and follow the guidelines issued from time to time.
Meanwhile, the health officials in Kishtwar clarified that pathologist at District Hospital Kishtwar has not been tested positive for COVID-19, adding that the doctor is on leave since last over one week, however, majority of the staff posted in hospital lab and emergency has tested positive.
"I was on leave since September 2. I returned from Jammu only today and I am absolutely fine, reports that I tested positive for COVID-19 are untrue," said pathologist posted at DH Kishtwar.
