Year on, BSNL installed V-Sats non functional in Dachhan Block
9/13/2020 12:21:30 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 12: The alleged lackadaisical attitude of BSNL could be gauged from the fact that the internet V-Sat installed by the company in 8 Panchayats of Dachhan Block in Kishtwar District are non functional since August 2019.
Sources said that this has led to disruption of the official work of Rural Development Department and other departments that are dependent on internet services.
They said that BSNL installed the V-Sats at Panchayat Sounder A, Sounder B, Loharna A, Loharna B. Lopara A, Lopara B, Chicha and Janakpur while in Panchayat Sounder C, the V-Sat is yet to be installed.
Locals told Early Times that in absence of internet facilities, the student community has suffered a lot during the ongoing pandemic..
Similar reports have been received from Marwah block where majority of these BSNL installed V-Sats are non functional. "The RDD officials with personal efforts have made some V-Sats functional with the help of private telecom operators," they said.
When contacted DC Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara informed that he has taken up the matter with BSNL officials and they have assured that the problem will be addressed within one week. "The BSNL officials told me that due to COVID 19 pandemic, the equipment that had to be brought from Bangalore got delayed,." the DC said.
"The BSNL officials informed that the equipment required for replacement and restoration of V-Sats in Dachhan block has been dispatched and same will reach Kishtwar in next few days. I will personally monitor the restoration of these V-Sats," he added.
