EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Oct 8: The senior officials of the Sports Department Rajouri as well as the other departments were seen violating COVID-19 guidelines openly during the inaugural ceremony of Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Rajouri, which was e-inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor JK UT from Peeri. Sources told Early Times that the officials of the Sport Department and other departments were also present on the occasion, many of them were seen without masks in presence of public gathering. LG Manoj Sinha was scheduled to inaugurate newly constructed Stadium at Rajouri physically but due to some technical snag erupted in his chopper, he could not reached the spot. “As soon as the information about non arrival of LG was spread, the officials of the Sports Department started distribution of sports kits among the players present on the occasion, who were invited in the programme,” they said. They further informed that they distributed kits among the cricket players, football players, etc. “Photograph session was also held during this programme where he along with some other officials were seen without masks in contravention of the guidelines, putting the lives of the general masses in high risk of the COVID-19,” they informed. It is very shocking that when COVID cases are increasing high in the state with each passing day, the officials seem to have forgotten their responsibility and are violating guidelines just for the sake of photo sessions, they added.
