10/9/2020 12:08:05 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Oct 8: Former legislator from Ramban Ashok Kumar has urged upon the lieutenant Governor MK Sinha to provide compensation, rehabilitation, food items, cooking gas beside other necessary items to the Dalwas landslide affected people.
For the third time, Ashok Kumar took stock of the grievances faced by the homeless victims as the result of Landslide and sinking of land on 28, March 2020 which was triggered due to the unscientific cutting of slopes and unplanned mucking by Gammon and NHAI at Dalwas (Ramban).
Ashok has demanded to the Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir to direct the concerned authorities that the immediate proper compensation, rehabilitation, food item and cooking gas should be provided on war footing as winters are approaching.
In a statement issued here, he said that the affected people of the Dalwas (Ramban) have become homeless from last six months due to the sinking of major portion of Dalwas village and are temporary accommodated in High School Dalwas since March, 2020. It is pertinent to mention that the government schools are about to resume and there is no further arrangements have been done for the affected people so far. It is a great injustice to the affected families who are below poverty line and have no scope for their daily livelihood.
Ashok has further said that the affected families have no financial assistant and have also become landless.
Moreover, they have no source of income, the only source they used to have was their small junks of land where they used to cultivate to sustain their daily livelihood.
Ashok has strongly urged upon the concerned authorities to provide immediate rehabilitation to the affected families before it’s too late.
