Joint Commissioner Planning SMC allegedly assaulted, two ward offices arrested

Srinagar, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir police have in Srinagar have arrested two Srinagar Municipal Corporation Officer (SMC), Ward Officers for allegedly assaulting the Joint Commissioner Planning of the Srinagar Municipal Commissioner.
As per the reports, Joint Commissioner/Planning Srinagar Municipal Corporation Ghulam Hassan has lodged a complaint alleging that two ward officer of SMC have threatened him to for construction a house in Hyderpora, Srinagar.
Following which the Joint Commissioner Planning (JCP) SMC Ghulam Hassan had lodged a complaint in police station Shaheed Gunj. As per the local news report, FIR number(122/2020 under section 353 IPC) was registered on Thursday against Ward Officers, Riyaz Ahmad, and Irshad Ahmad, in the police station Shaheed Gunj on the basis of the complaint of Joint Commissioner/Planning, Ghulam Hassan.
As per the reports, the police have arrested the ward officer and have been put in Shaheed Gunj police station. Hassan has alleged that the two Ward Officers have threatened him to grant illegal permissions for constructing their houses in Hyderpora. He has also alleged that they have been organizing protests against him in SMC.
As per sources in SMC, Riyaz Ahmad allegedly constructing his house in Hyderpora illegally and does not have permission from SMC and was threatening the JCP to give him building permission. Also recently, he had claimed that he has permission from SMC. However, the court had stayed his construction after complaints by the locals in Hyderpora of violating building construction rules.
The issue was inquired by the JCP after orders from the SMC Commissioner. Sources said the inquiry by the JCP has annoyed Riyaz and him along with Irshad Ahmad threatened the Joint Commissioner Planning.
