Aa Gale Lag Ja: PC-NC top brass meeting on cards!

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 9: In a bid to forge in unity, two of the arch rivals in Kashmir, the National Conference led by the Abdullahs and the Peoples Conference of Sajjad Lone are looking ahead to hold a joint meeting to decide “future course of action of politics in Jammu and Kashmir in a cordial manner.”
Sources said the “historic meeting between NC and PC was expected in the coming days in Srinagar and that the meeting was likely to be held at the residence of NC patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah.
Sources said Sajad Lone, Omar Abdullah and Dr Abdullah have been apprised about the expected meeting and its prospects for the two parties and that all the three leaders have expressed satisfaction over the development.
But it was not certain if Sajad, Omar and Dr Abdullah would attend the unity meeting in person.
Sources said the relation between the NC and PC had landed in troubled waters after a Sajjad Lone’s close aide Gani Wakil had issued a statement against Dr Farooq Abdullah, who is also a Member Parliament.
Sources said the statement had left National Conference embarrassed and that party had almost decided to break the alliance with other local parties over the so called Gupkar Declaration.
Sources said finally some of the leaders from both parties came forward with proposal that “any infighting at this stage would lead all the regional parties based in Kashmir getting embarrassed.”
“Finally, it was decided that senior leaders from both the parties will hold a face to face meeting to resolve issues if any,” said a source.
The sources said some of the persons from the civil society are also lobbying for unity between NC and PC.
It is pertinent to mention that PC and NC had been arch rivals for many years.
Both Sajad Lone and Omar Abdullah would shower choicest abuses on each other on the social media platforms.
Despite repeated attempts the leaders from the twin parties were not available for comments.
