Dardpora Lolab, adjacent areas suffer in absence of basic facilities

KUPWARA, Oct 9: Maximum number of villages in the frontier district of Kupwara are deprived of basic facilities be it roads, electricity or drinking water.
Irshad Ahmad from Lolab area said that, today we staged protest in Srinagar and rued lack of basic facilities in their area. It seems that we are living in ancient times where people used to lit chimneys and other resources.
Development is not to introduce the schemes or to cut ribbons only, but actual development is if you have road connectivity in your area, if you have 24x7 uninterrupted electricity, but unfortunately all these basic facilities are missing, Irshad Ahmad told ET.
Another resident of Lolab Dardpora said that, last year we were assured by the authorities that road will be constructed under PMGSY but nothing was done till date.
“People especially old aged persons and school going children suffer due to non-availability of road in the village and it has affected the villagers mostly patients” said locals.
They said that, there is also a problem of drinking water as our women folk walks miles to fetch water on their shoulders from the nearby streams; drinking water facility should be also made available so that people will not suffer at large.
There is no road connectivity in our area, besides that there is need of PHC and Playground in the area so that people will not suffer due to want of basic facilities, said locals.
They said that due to unavailability of road connectivity, we are facing lot of problems and even for minor issues we have to visit district and sub district hospitals.
If play ground will be constructed out children can play and remain away from drug addiction and other immoral activities.
They added that we have brought this issue in notice of concerned authorities several times but their repeated promises proved hoax on ground.
We request the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other higher officials to look into the matter so that the long pending issues will be solved once for all, locals added.
