MJR47 condemns exclusion of Sikhs, DPs for reservation in technical institutions
10/9/2020 11:22:30 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 9: MJR47 has condemned the All India Council of Technical Education, AICTE , MoHRD for extending reservation only to the wards of Kashmiri non-migrant Pandits/ Hindu families for admission in all the technical institutions in the country. This concession of 5% seats and 10%in merit was already available for Kashmiri migrants for past so many years. Extending reservation concession to only Kashmiri non-migrants and all such Hindus, living in the valley excluding non-migrant Sikhs and all other communities is highly discriminatory, and is against the spirit of justice to all.
No one can undermine the role played by Sikh non-migrants who continued to stay in valley during whole period of militancy, despite repeated threats and intimidation but as a true patriot Sikhs in valley thought it fit to ensure tricolor to always fly high in the valley. Similarly, PoJK DPs have been making repeated demands to government of India for including them for such concessions to their wards as they are educationally, socially and economically most deprived. MJR47 requests GOI, ministry of Home Affairs and HRM to immediately include Sikh non- migrants from valley and also DPs of 1947, in the special quota of seats reservation in technical institutions in the country.
