| ‘Property Tax’ another gift of Govt to people of J&K: Subash Gupta | | |

KATHUA, Oct 9: After imposing several taxes, now government has given another gift to people of J&K by imposing ‘Property Tax’, said former MLC and senior congress leader Subash Gupta.
“Property tax is the annual amount paid by a land owner to the local government or the municipal corporation of his area. The property includes all ‘tangible’ real estate property, his house, office building, and the property he has rented to others. Tangible property in law is literally, anything which can be touched, and includes both real and personal property,” Gupta said adding that this means what so ever you had earned or constructed will be under the bar of tax.
Subash Gupta said that the people are already reeling under the financial crunches due to slowdown of economy and this unnecessary and extra property tax will add more burdens on them.
He further said that people do not have even money to arrange two meals a day and the imposition of property tax seems to be an unreasonable and illegal decision by the Union Government.
“Instead of these decisions; Govt should take steps to tackle unemployment and upgrade the economic structure of the country in general and the J&K in particular. Covid-19 unprecedented lockdown and mismanagement by the BJP Government has already taken a huge toll on the people,” Gupta said.
While criticizing BJP Government’s policies, he said that government should revoke such anti-people decisions and should take measures to take care of sufferings of unemployed youth, farmers, and daily wagers who had been struggling for decades. |
