COVID-19 recovery rate crosses 85% in JK as 976 patients recover, 635 fresh cases reported

SRINAGAR, Oct 10: The COVID-19 recovery rate continues to improve in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir and it reached 85.42 percent today after 976 virus affected patients were discharged from the different hospitals of the union territory.
Meanwhile, 635 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported today and as a result of the same the total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir reached 83,064. The total number of casualties in the union territory due to COVID-19 is 1313 with seven such deaths occurring in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 173 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 109 cases, Budgam district 50 cases, Kupwara district 44 cases, Baramulla district 36 cases, Ganderbal district 35 cases, Rajouri and Kishtwar districts 29 cases each, Anantnag district 22 cases, Pulwama district 20 cases, Kathua and Samba districts 15 cases each, Poonch district 14 cases, Udhampur district 12 cases, Bandipora district 11 cases, Kulgam, Doda and Reasi districts five cases each, Shopian district four cases and Ramban district two cases. Srinagar district reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by two deaths in Jammu district. A death each was reported from Baramulla and Rajouri districts. So far 889 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 424.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 635 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 235 from Jammu division and 400 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 83,064. Also seven COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 976 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 509 from Jammu Division and 467 from Kashmir Division. Out of 83,064 positive cases, 10,796 are active positive, 70,955 have recovered and 1,313 have died; 424 in Jammu division and 889 in Kashmir division.
Out of 18, 18,753 test results available, 17, 35,689 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 11,888 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 25,347 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 10,796 in isolation and 48,356 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 26,076 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 16,504 positive cases, 1,787 active positive, 14,402 recovered, 315 deaths; Budgam has 5,350 positive cases, 733 active positive, 4,528 recovered, 89 deaths; Baramulla has 4,847 positive cases, 1,467 active positive, 3,252 recovered, 128 deaths; Pulwama has 4,212 positive cases, 302 active positive, 3,838 recovered, 72 deaths; Kupwara has 3,885 positive cases, 627 active positive, 3,188 recovered, 70 deaths.
“Anantnag has 3,756 positive cases, 343 active positive, 3,344 recovered, 69 deaths; Bandipora has 3,674 positive cases, 352 active positive, 3,281 recovered, 41 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,135 positive cases, 276 active positive, 2829 recovered, 30 deaths; Kulgam has 2,329 positive cases, 84 active positive, 2,202 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 2,089 positive cases, 113 active positive, 1,944 recovered, 32 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 15,160 positive cases, 1,430 active positive, 13,509 recovered, 221 deaths; Rajouri has 2,981 positive cases, 526 active positive, 2,413 recovered, 42 deaths; Udhampur has 2,481 positive cases, 231 active positive, 2,228 recovered, 22 deaths; Doda has 2,383 positive cases, 729 active positive, 1,616 recovered, 38 deaths; Kathua has 2,255 positive cases, 137 active positive, 2,089 recovered, 29 deaths.
“Poonch has 1,981 positive cases, 724 active positive, 1237 recovered, 20 deaths; Samba has 1,967 positive cases, 422 active positive, 1,521 recovered, 24 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,515 positive cases, 227 active positive, 1,277 recovered, 11 deaths; Ramban has 1,440 positive cases, 120 active positive, 1,309 recovered, 11 deaths and Reasi has 1,120 positive cases, 166 active positive, 948 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 83,064 positive cases in J&K, 9,121 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
