DEO reviews preparedness for Panchayat, ULB bye-elections in Doda

DODA, Oct 10: District Election Officer Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode today chaired a meeting of concerned nodal officers, electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers to discuss various measures regarding the smooth conduct of upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) bye-elections in the district.
It was informed that 18 sarpanch seats and 26 panch seats are lying vacant in the district besides, 01 seat of councilor in MC Bhaderwah is also lying vacant.
However, all the positions of BDC chairpersons have been filled in the previous BDC elections.
Speaking on the occasion, the DEO stressed on working in coordination and synergy besides directed for making all the requisite arrangements well in advance.
He also exhorted to ensure all basic facilities at each designated polling station and emphasized to sort-out the bottlenecks, if any so that the process is conducted smoothly.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC, Doda, Kishori Lal Sharma; ADC, Bhaderwah, Rakesh Kumar; ACR, Doda, Kaiser Bhawani; Deputy DEO, Idrees Lone; SDM, Thathri, Athar Amin; All designated nodal officers, EROs, AEROs, Tehsildars, BDOs and Executive Officer MC Bhaderwah.
Meanwhile, the DEO also convened a meeting of the representatives of various recognized National/Regional political parties.
He highlighted various features of upcoming bye elections and appealed to the political representatives to refrain from any activity which violates MCC (Model code of conduct)
The representatives of all political parties gave assurance to DEO for their full cooperation in the forthcoming elections.
