DPEO holds meeting with Political representatives, Nodal officers

REASI, Oct 13: District Panchayat Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib today convened a meeting with the representatives of the registered Political parties in connection with the forthcoming Bye-Elections to the vacant seats of Sarpanches/panch/ Ward constituencies.
The political parties were given a firsthand appraisal about the conduct of Panchayat Bye- Elections 2020 and regarding the Covid-19 guideline which needs to be adhered in letter and spirit in the district during the entire process of Bye-elections.
The political parties were also apprised about the summary revision of draft electoral roll notified by the Chief Electoral Officer for Municipal Elections with 01-01-2020 as qualifying date. The schedule regarding the same was also shared with all the political parties.
Meanwhile, the DPEO chaired the meeting of election Nodal Officers to discuss the preparedness for Panchayat / Municipal Bye-Election 2020 to the vacant seats of Sarpanch/Panch/ Ward constituencies.
At the outset, the District Election Officer was apprised about the total number of vacancies of Sarpanch/Panch/ Ward Councilors by the Deputy District Election Officer, Reasi. The total number of polling stations, total number of Panchayat and blocks involved were also brought into the notice of District Election Officer as well as all the Nodal Officers.
The DPEO reviewed the preparedness for the bye elections and enquired about the information to be provided by different Nodal Officers. The Nodal Officer for Transport Plan, communication plan and SVEEP were directed to submit detailed comprehensive plans to DPEO office in consultation with concerned Tehsildars/BDOs.
The Nodal Officers for Ballot papers and material management were also directed by the District Election officer to keep their men and machinery readily available for smooth conduct of these bye-elections.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajinder Kumar Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Development Anirudh Rai; Dy. District Election Officer Zakir Hussain Wani and all district officers and Block Development Officers of District Reasi.
