High-command asks J&K BJP leaders to defend land laws
11/2/2020 12:09:17 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 1: BJP high-command is not happy with the J&K unit of the party for adopting ‘defensive posture’ on new land laws introduced by the Centre last week. High-command has local leadership to go aggressive on new laws, as according to the party, it will open opportunities of huge investment in J&K.
Highly placed said that BJP’s central leadership has shown its anger over guarded silence maintained by almost all senior leaders of the party on this issue, which is snowballing into a big controversy.
On Tuesday, the central government had notified new land laws in J&K to allow any Indian citizen to purchase non-agricultural land in the Union Territory (UT). These rules have also omitted any need for being a domicile or having a permanent resident certificate for the purchase of land in J&K.
Opposition parties in J&K have strongly opposed new land laws. Even the pro-Jammu- Panthers Party has also opposed the same and termed it an insult to the vision of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Sources said BJP high command was worried over all parties joining hands to oppose new land laws because this will provide an opportunity to the Kashmir centric parties of ‘Peoples’ Alliance of Gupkar Declaration’ to rope in people of Jammu region.
Instead of defending new land laws with convictions, BJP leaders in J&K are avoiding speaking on the same. Most of the senior leaders of the party are issuing statements on irrelevant issues instead of countering oppositions’ charges.
