Unemployment a concern

Unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir reaching 25 percent is a big concern. It is double than the national average and needs to be addressed forthwith.
Recently Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced a fresh employment package for J&K youth and assured that providing jobs to youth is government’s priority.
Politicians, who ruled J&K in the past failed to address this burning issue. In the erstwhile J&K state job scams had become a norm. Only those people who enjoyed political backing were provided jobs. Getting a government job without a recommendation was impossible during the regimes led by the Kashmir centric politicians.
Now, the times have changed and the Centre has directly taken over the control of the newly carved out J&K UT. People are hoping that what used to happen in the past won’t be repeated again.
According to the media reports the J&K administration has set 2025 as its target to end unemployment in the UT and for it the plan has already been formulated. The J&K government has sought support of the national-level investors and industry experts in creating robust infrastructure and employment avenues for the youth, who during all these years have not been able to think beyond getting a government job.
J&K’s transition into a Union Territory has provided an opportunity to the Centre to fill in the lacunas which created a wedge between the people and New Delhi. The packages which were announced by the Centre from time to time for J&K failed to reach here due to the lackadaisical attitude of the rulers, who remained busy in raising other issues. These leaders are doing the same even at this point of time.
Kashmir centric leaders ruled J&K for nearly seven decades. Instead of addressing the issues which touch the skin of a common man these leaders raked such controversies which didn’t fall in their domain.
For them governance was the last priority. They remained busy in projecting Kashmir as an issue and wanted it to act as a bridge between India and Pakistan. Had they focused on the requirements of the people the unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir would not have been double than the national average.
These leaders are once again trying to hoodwink the people by telling them that they will get everything back but the fact of the matter is that they are just misleading the people for their vested interests.
