Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 7: Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today chaired a meeting to review the progress of Centrally sponsored flagship schemes.
The meeting took a physical and financial review of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Grameen (PMAY-G) programmes.
Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Secretary, Pran Singh, Deputy Director (Planning) while Director Rural Development, Jammu Sudarshan Kumar and all Assistant Commissioners of Development (ACDs) attended the meeting via video conferencing.
While reviewing PMAY(G), the Secretary stressed upon the officers to complete the construction of the remaining houses by end of this financial year.
Earlier, while reviewing MGNREGA scheme, she stressed for 100 per cent timely-payments (within the fifteen days of completion of works) to beneficiaries.
Nanda also took a serious note of the slow progress under the twin schemes in some blocks.
She directed the concerned officers to serve an explanation notice for the poor performing officers.
Special emphasis was also laid on the construction of sustainable assets, while maintaining 40:60 ratio. Threadbare discussion and deliberation were also held on Mason Training, Job Card mapping, Aadhar Seeding, and other issues.
