Ashok Sharma extends support to Kissan agitation

JAMMU, Dec 11: Ashok Sharma Former Legislator and Chairman "All Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Union" announced full support to the ongoing Kissan agitation. Describing all the three recently enacted agricultural bills as anti farmers he appealed for repealing the said bills and draft new one's in consultation with farmers and their representatives in the country. He demanded separate "Agriculture Budget" on lines of erstwhile "Railway Budget" and an update "Agriculture Policy" addressing the aspirations and ethos of the farmers. He said that in the shambled state of economy where the GDP has dipped down to minus 23.5 percent, the agriculture sector has still positive growth of 3.5 percent and it employs that the farmers have worked hard even in pandemic and ably met the food and agricultural produce needs of the country and did not let the nation down on this account . He reminded Gandhi Ji's words that India inhabits in villages and that Indian economy is farmer based economy. He said farmers not only feed the nation but give us brave soldiers for our armed forces besides conserving and propagating our rich culture, traditions and environment. They keep us connected with the mother earth and make our lives meaning full. Therefore, the farmers who are majority population require a fair deal he said.
