DSEJ felicitates JU psychology students on completion of Internship at School Education Directorate

JAMMU, Dec 15: Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta today felicitated psychology students from Department of Psychology University of Jammu, by giving them certificates of internship. These students were placed at counselling cell at Directorate of School education Jammu for undergoing internship under the overall supervision of Head counselling cell, Romesh Kumar Sharma.
During the three month long internship they were exposed to initiatives of counselling cell DSEJ i.e Telecounselling helpline - “Aao Baat Karein”, Counselling calendar activities, teacher training in counselling skills, special counselling campaigns etc. Special online lectures were arranged for them on topics like counselling skills, mental health assessment, inclusive education, career counselling etc. They also attended different webinars organized by counselling cell DSEJ on different counselling themes. Besides this they were also provided first hand training in individual counselling ,group counselling, holding class talk, career talk, orientation, report writing etc. They were also placed at schools to counsel students and prepare reports. Students expressed their gratitude towards Counselling Cell Directorate of School Education Jammu and the Director Anuradha Gupta for providing them with a great learning experience during the challengening COVID-19 pandemic times.
The Director School Education Jammu, while interacting with the students advised them to be associated with counselling cell initiatives as brand ambassadors of counselling and assured them that such internship trainings will be made a regular feature. Romesh Kumar Sharma, Head counselling cell called upon them to be agents of social change by creating mass awareness on psychological issues impacting society.
Others who were present on the occasion include Dr. Surinder Sharma, Preeti Sharma and Shanti Sawroop Sharma, members of counselling cell.
