Major administrative reshuffle after DDC elections
Raj Bhawan to take final call
12/16/2020 12:05:36 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 15: A major reshuffle of the civil and police administration in Jammu and Kashmir government is on the cards soon after the District Development Council elections, scheduled to conclude on December 22, are over.
Official sources said the government has decided for a major reshuffle including that of commissioner secretaries, heads of the departments and the district heads in civil and police administration in particular. Some of the “non-performing officials are likely to be removed from sensitive postings.” It will be the first major transfer of officials since the day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took over in August 2020. Sources said around a dozen District Development Commissioners, Commissioner Secretaries, Inspector Generals of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police are likely to be transferred.
Much against the expectation of transfer of officers soon after his taking over, Sinha had preferred to personally review the performance of the officials before deciding about their next posting.
Sources said though soon after Sinha took over a proposal was made in the Civil Secretariat for the transfers, the LG went ahead with the official machinery already in place.
Sources said the Raj Bhawan will decide about the new postings on the basis of the performance of the officials.
Sources said though some officials are have been tying to “suggest about the new places of postings” of their favorites, Sinha is unlikely to go by any “undue recommendations.”
“One thing is clear that transfers will be done purely on the basis of performance as he (Sinha) is a hard task master who doesn’t believe in any sufarish,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said New Delhi has given a free hand to Sinha to act tough against non-performing officials and that some such faces were likely to be “posted in cells.”
When contacted a senior official in the administration said that transfers are a part of the administrative work-culture and that process was expected once the model code of conduct for DDC elections is over.
