While addressing the people, Kanika Gupta CDPO Akhnoor said that good nutrition helps to manage healthy weight, maintains the immune system and provides energy. A well-balanced diet, with a combination of all the essential nutrients, plays a pivotal role in the growth and development of mind and body. The various programmes launched by Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), include Ladli Beti, Pardhan mantri matru vandna yojana, poshan abhiyan and others.
Dr. Sanjeev Sharma informed that more than 50% of India’s children are anemic, indicating an inadequate amount of hemoglobin in the blood. This is caused by a nutritional deficiency of iron and other essential minerals, and vitamins in the body. Malnutrition is not only confined to children. Among adults, 23% of women and 20% of men are considered undernourished in India.
Ashok Kumar BMO Akhnoor advised the women folk to take special care of their health as they are involved in multiple works ranging from their domestic activities like kitchen, taking care of their children/ looking after the livestock and then also to work in fields. As such, unknowingly they become prone to various deficiency diseases.
He advised them to include milk, green leafy vegetables, raw vegetables and sprouted food grains in their food and also to take special care of their children, besides doing regular yoga to keep their bodies fit.
