Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday constituted high power vigilance and monitoring committee for overseeing implementation of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes Prevention of Atrocities (PA) Act, 1989 in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with the committee to meet twice in a year. "Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of High Power Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for overseeing the implementation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir", reads the government order. The committee shall meet at least twice in a calendar year, in the month of January & July to review the implementation of the provisions of the Act, relief & rehabilitation facilities provided to the victims and other matters connected therewith, prosecution of cases Member convene; Member under the Act, the role of different officers/agencies responsible for implementing the provisions of the Act and various reports received by the UT Government. The committee constitutes of seven members which include Parliament Member/Assembly Members belonging to the SC/ST, Advisor Incharge Social Welfare Department, Chief Secretary (As Chief Secretary & as Advisor in charge, Home Department), Financial Commissioner, Finance Department (as Advisor in charge, Finance Department), Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary to the Government and Social welfare Department, Director/Deputy Director, National Commission for SC/ST. |
