DLSA, Forest deptt organize plantation drive at Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH, Dec 19: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bhaderwah in collaboration with the Forest Department Bhaderwah organized a plantation drive at village Basti, here today. The drive was inaugurated by Chairman District Legal Services Authority Bhaderwah, Ashok Kumar Shavan in presence of Secretary District Legal Services Authority Bhaderwah (Sub Judge), Susheel Singh and Divisional Forest Officer Bhaderwah Chander Shekar. The drive launched by planting Deodar saplings at Nalthi forest Complex. The drive was launched under the flagship programme 'Green J&K' aimed at enhancing the green cover for sustainable and ecological balance of our environment. The Forest Department provided 50 Deodar saplings for purpose of planting them in whole Doda District and at all legal Aid Clinics/ village legal care and support centers of the district Doda . The Deodar saplings were distributed among the para-legal volunteers of the Bhaderwah , Doda, Thatri and Gandoh for planting these in their respective areas. It was informed that DLSA Bhaderwah in collaboration with forest department shall be organizing more such drives, planting herbal and medical plants for increasing green cover of the district and prevention of the soil erosion. On the occasion special bags carrying messages for the environment and services given by legal services authority were also distributed and drive will remain continue for a week.
The programme was also attended and participated by Advocate Mohd Majid Malik who while speaking on the occasion said that in the Constitution of India it is clearly stated that it is the duty of the state to 'protect and improve the environment and to safeguard the forests and wildlife of the country'. It imposes a duty on every citizen 'to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers, and wildlife'.
