EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Dec 19: Star BJP campaigners forgot local issues and castigated what they called “Gupkar-Gang” during the campaign trail for maiden DDC polls held in Jammu and Kashmir.
Polling for the eight-phase DDC polls culminated today and the counting will take place on December 22 for the 280 DDC constituencies. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) star campaigners for the maiden DDC elections were senior leaders like Jitendra Singh, Smriti Irani, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Anurag Thakur and others.
Paradoxically, during their campaign in Jammu division, BJP leaders Anurag Thakur and Smirit Irani’s statements revolved around the “Gupkar-Gang”, it proved that BJP contested these polls by disapproving Kashmiri leadership, especially NC, PDP, PC, CPM, INC and other parties that were a part of People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
In its
Highlights of speeches delivered by BJP leaders
> ‘Gupkar gang’ hungry for power, deceiving J-K people, says Smriti Irani,
> PAGD facing existential crisis, says BJP
> BJP attacks PAGD ahead of 4th phase of DDC elections
> Union Minister Smriti Irani slams PAGD for not giving right to vote to refugees from Pakistan
> Failing repeatedly, Congress joined PAGD ahead of district development council polls: BJP
> ‘Gupkar gang’, Mamata propagates anarchy, says Anurag Thakur
> Gupkar Gang is mouthpiece of Pak, China’s agenda: Anurag Thakur
> Union Minister, party in-charge for DDC polls says people have defeated ‘Gupkar Gang’ by voting in huge numbers.
lection manifesto, the BJP had promised 70000 jobs for locals of J&K and had raised many other issues. However, these issues were not even highlighted during the election rallies.
Jammuites were expecting restoration of 4-G internet services in nine districts of Jammu division excluding Udhampur. The people of Jammu were also disappointed with back-to-back two toll plazas one at Sarore and another at Lakhanpur, and were expecting some relief, but it could not find any mention in most of speeches made by these leaders during rallies and public meetings.
After scrapping the Roshi Act, hundreds of poor landless farmers and other weaker sections are likely to lose their dwellings and homes but these leaders remained silent on it as well.
There was no mention of better education, support for the poor people who suffered losses during lock down imposed in the wake of COVID-pandemic.
